Daniel E. Pollard is an English qualified associate in the London office of Gibson Dunn specialising in all aspects of English law relating to Employment, Employee Incentives and Data Privacy.

Mr. Pollard's practice includes contentious, non-contentious and general advisory work.  He is experienced in drafting and negotiating executive service agreements, consultancy agreements, compromise/severance agreements and non-competes.  He counsels clients in connection with a broad range of employment related issues and has particular experience counselling US-based clients in relation to the employment issues arising upon the setting up, management and downsizing of their UK operations. 

Mr. Pollard also has experience drafting, implementing and changing global bonus incentive programs and in advising upon equity incentive arrangements.  

Recent contentious experience includes successfully defending numerous unfair dismissal cases in the employment tribunal and as part of a team advising on high value discrimination claims.  

Mr. Pollard has extensive experience providing specialist advice on a range of corporate transactions (in sectors as diverse as nanotechnology, bioscience, e-commerce, information technology, hedge funds and consumer banking).  These include high profile and multi-jurisdictional M&A transactions, initial public offerings, takeovers and the financing of a number of venture capital/private equity-backed companies where he has experience representing the interests of both investors, management and the target companies. 

He also counsels multinational clients on UK, EU and international data privacy issues including those arising in the context of multinational investigations, day to day compliance, litigation and M&A transactions.

Prior to joining Gibson Dunn in January 2007, Mr. Pollard worked for Wilmerhale having trained as a solicitor at Clifford Chance.  During his legal training he gained experience in the general corporate, employment/pensions and aviation finance practice areas in London and was posted on secondment to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

Mr. Pollard is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.

Speaking Engagements

Mr. Pollard has spoken at a number of legal seminars.  He has recently hosted seminars for the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) on topics including the Assignment of Employees into the UK, International Restructurings and the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006.  He has also spoken at Kaplan/Hawksmere Conferences on various topics.
