Lynn Hang is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.  She currently practices in the firm’s Labor and Employment Department.

Ms. Hang has handled a broad range of employment matters in complex cases in state and federal court, including wage and hour class actions involving issues of misclassification, meal and rest periods, and off-the-clock work.  She has also successfully defended against single-plaintiff wrongful termination, discrimination, and harassment claims.  Ms. Hang has experience handling complex discovery, extensive motion practice, and trial preparation.  In addition to litigation, she also has experience with advice and counseling regarding employment matters.

Representative employment matters include: 

  • Securing denial of class certification on behalf of international senior living company in wage and hour class action, which included claims for failure to provide meal and rest breaks, failure to pay overtime, failure to pay wages of terminated employees, failure to keep accurate payroll records, as well as violations of the California Business and Professions Code for unlawful business practices and unfair competition.
  • Achieving favorable settlement for large telecommunications company in wage and hour class action by obtaining indemnification from over 20 subcontractor cross-defendants.
  • Obtaining summary judgment on behalf of national for-profit technical institution in False Claims Act retaliatory discharge action.
  • Securing favorable settlement for major entertainment studio in state claim for same-sex harassment on theory of gender stereotyping.

Other representative matters include: 

  • Securing successful defense verdict for major entertainment studio in $150 million television profit participation licensing arbitration, including recouping arbitration fees.
  • Obtaining exclusion of plaintiffs’ key expert witnesses in multi-million dollar toxic tort case involving 800 individual actions and spanning 10 years of litigation to secure dismissal of claims.
  • Providing successful argument before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals regarding motion to reopen immigration proceedings to secure adjustment of status for client (pro bono).

Ms. Hang received her law degree in 2006 from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she was a member of the Moot Court Honors Program and served as Articles Editor of the Entertainment Law Review Journal.   She graduated cum laude in 2001 from the University of California, Berkeley, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a minor in English Literature.  Before law school, Ms. Hang worked as a strategy consultant for the Monitor Group.  She currently serves on Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher’s Diversity Committee, Recruiting Sub-Committee, and Green Committee.  She has also contributed to the 2011 update to The Rutter Group Practice Guide for “Employment Litigation.”

Ms. Hang is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before the United State District Court for the Central District of California and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
