Gibson Dunn Appoints New Co-Partner-in-Charge of the Los Angeles and Century City Offices 

Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP is pleased to announce that Karen Bertero has been named as the Co-Partner-in-Charge of the firm's Los Angeles and Century City offices, effective immediately. Replacing partner Marjorie Lewis, Bertero joins Peter Ziegler in leading the office as Co-Partners-in-Charge.

"Margie has been an inspirational leader, and we are grateful for her many contributions to the Los Angeles and Century City offices," said Ken Doran, Managing Partner of Gibson Dunn. "We are pleased to have Karen join Peter in leading the Los Angeles and Century City offices. Karen has long been involved in firm management, having served on both our Executive Committee and our Management Committee, and we look forward to working with Karen in her new role."

About Karen E. Bertero

Bertero is a member of the firm's Corporate Transactions Practice Group.  Her practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets matters, board of director advice and general corporate counseling.  Bertero has advised clients in a variety of industries in mergers and acquisitions of both public and private companies, public offerings, Rule 144A debt offerings, private placements of equity and debt securities and venture capital investments. 

Bertero graduated in 1981 from the UCLA School of Law, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif.  She did her undergraduate work at the University of California at Berkeley, graduating in 1978 as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.

Bertero is a member of the Business Law and Antitrust Sections of the American Bar Association and of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of California.  Bertero is a frequent lecturer at programs on capital markets, merger and acquisition and board of director counseling matters.  She has served on the firm's Management and Executive Committees and is a member of Gibson Dunn's Diversity and Hiring Committees.
