Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP is pleased to announce that Amal Bouchenaki has joined the firm as of counsel based in its New York office and will be working closely with the London and Paris offices. She joins the firm from Orrick's Paris office where she was a senior associate with the International Arbitration group.
Bouchenaki represents multinational companies in large, complex, international commercial and Treaty-based arbitrations. She previously served as legal clerk to Arbitrator W. Laurence Craig.
"Amal has substantive knowledge of international arbitration law and familiarity with the major players in the field," said Laurence Shore, co-chair of Gibson Dunn's International Arbitration Practice Group who is based in New York. “She has so many unique specialties, but her Arabic language skills will especially be essential to building our practice in a fast growing market.”

Bouchenaki speaks French, English, Spanish, Arabic, Italian and Mandarin. She is qualified in France and California and received her law degree from Université Paris XI Sceaux in 1995, earning a Diploma in Law from Edinburgh University Faculty of Law in 1994. She also graduated in English and Spanish from the European translation school, ISIT, in 1995. She attended The Hague Academy of International Law, Private International Law Session, earning a Certificate in International Private Law in 1995 and attended Université Paris XI Sceaux, earning a DEA de droit des contrats (LLM equivalent in Contract Law) in 1996.
