Heather D. Hearne is an associate in Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher's Orange County office and is a member of the firm's Litigation Department, Labor and Employment Practice Group and Environmental Litigation and Mass Tort Practice Group.

Ms. Hearne has experience representing clients in state and federal courts across the country.  Her practice is split between labor and employment and environmental litigation, as well as environmental remediation and cost recovery efforts.  Her experience ranges from defending clients in wage and hour class actions and toxic torts to litigating contract disputes and advising clients related to government investigations. 

Representative matters include:

Labor and Employment

  • Defending multiple wage and hour class actions in federal and state court regarding misclassification and meal period claims.
  • Assisting client in responding to organization efforts at a local shipping terminal.
  • Defending wrongful termination claim in which plaintiff alleged emotional injuries and sought punitive and compensatory damages

Mass and Toxic Tort Defense

  • Defending rocket manufacturing company in state court community exposure litigation alleging a range of physical and emotional injuries and seeking punitive, compensatory, and medical monitoring damages from alleged exposure to drinking water containing TCE and perchlorate.
  • Defending product testing company from community exposure suit alleging that waterborne TCE, perchlorate, and other substances caused death, injury, emotional distress, and diminished property values to those near the facility and seeking compensatory, punitive, and medical monitoring damages.

Cost Recovery and Remediation

  • Assisting an Aerospace company in its remediation efforts and cost recovery action at a variety of sites and in a variety of matters.
  • Representing an Aerospace company in a cost recovery action resulting from remediation efforts at an Arizona landfill.

Ms. Hearne received her law degree in 2007 from the UCLA School of Law, where she was a Symposium Editor of the Law Review and a Program Director of the Women's Law Union.  She was a President's Scholar and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with minors in Spanish and Journalism from Southern Methodist University in 2001.

Ms. Hearne is admitted to practice in the State of California and before the U.S. District Courts for the Central and Southern Districts of California.
