Thomas A. Manakides is an associate in the Orange County office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher where he currently practices in the firm's Litigation and Environmental Litigation & Mass Tort Practice Groups.
Mr. Manakides' practice emphasizes complex business and environmental litigation, including defending against contaminated property and toxic tort claims, as well as a variety of commercial litigation matters. His toxic tort practice includes extensive experience with both legal and scientific medical causation, and toward this end Mr. Manakides assisted in the preparation of a case dispositive writ of mandate on this issue. Additionally, Mr. Manakides has experience in discovery, law and motion practice and appellate briefing.
While at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher Mr. Manakides participated in the Trial Attorney Partnership Program (TAPP) in conjunction with the Orange County District Attorney's Office. Through TAPP, Mr. Manakides gained valuable trial and oral argument experience.
Mr. Manakides received his law degree in 2003 from the University of Southern California Law School, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. At USC, he was the Submission Editor for the Southern California Law Review and published his Note, Arbitration of "Public Injunctions:" Clash Between State Statutory Remedies and the Federal Arbitration Act, 76 S. Cal. L. Rev. 433 (2003). In 2000, he graduated magna cum laude from Pepperdine University earning his B.A. degree in Political Science.
Mr. Manakides is admitted to practice in the State of California and before the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
