Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher's Business Restructuring and Reorganization Practice is a nationally recognized restructuring group, with extensive experience in both domestic and multinational insolvencies.  Members of the practice group are members of the American College of Bankruptcy Lawyers and the National Bankruptcy Conference, as well as being recognized as leaders in bankruptcy law by Chambers and Partners: USA, The Legal 500, The Best Lawyers in America, The Guide to the World's Leading Insolvency Lawyers, New York Magazine Superlawyers, Los Angeles Magazine Superlawyers, San Francisco Magazine Superlawyers, Texas Monthly Superlawyers and Turnarounds & Workouts.

Our restructuring and reorganization lawyers provide a range of services to clients across a broad spectrum of industries, including manufacturing, energy, oil and gas, banking, construction, retail, media, health care, telecommunications, air transport, gaming, hotels, information systems, insurance, real estate, securities trading and steel.  With over 1000 lawyers in 16 offices worldwide, members of our restructuring group work seamlessly with lawyers in our other nationally recognized departments (including litigation, ERISA, labor, environment and natural resources, corporate/M&A, tax, and real estate) to deliver the high quality, focused and, at the same time, broad-based advice required in complex restructuring matters.

Our lawyers regularly represent and counsel official creditors' committees, ad hoc creditor groups, secured lenders, investors, and companies in out-of-court work-outs and Chapter 11 cases.  We also provide advice to hedge funds, private equity firms, and financial institutions that invest in debt and/or equity of companies in financial distress.  More specifically, the Group's creditors' rights practice includes three broad areas of focus: (a) committee representations (representing ad hoc and official committees of creditors in significant out-of-court restructurings and major Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases), (b) distressed finance and acquisitions (representing financial institutions and hedge funds engaged in the business of lending to and/or acquiring companies in distress), and (c) investment advice (providing legal and strategic advice related to maximizing leverage in distressed and reorganization scenarios).  We have participated in the most complex distressed and insolvency-related proceedings, financings, and transactions of the last decade.  By combining the collective skills and backgrounds of all of our lawyers, we are able to provide cross-disciplinary and cross-border representation for any restructuring or reorganization situation.

In addition, the group has one of the nation's premier bankruptcy litigation practices.  Dubbed the "rescue squad" by The American Lawyer, Gibson Dunn's litigators have extensive experience prosecuting and defending the broad range of disputes that arise during the course of a bankruptcy case, including fraudulent conveyance and other avoidance actions, disputes over debtor-in-possession financing, plan confirmation, and valuation disputes.
