The Electronic Discovery and Information Law Practice Group brings together attorneys with extensive knowledge of the legal and strategic issues related to electronic discovery.  The group is comprised of seasoned litigators with a breadth of experience who have assisted clients in various industries and in jurisdictions around the world.  Our attorneys in the Electronic Discovery and Information Law Practice Group work closely with the Firm's technical specialists to provide the Firm's clients with cutting-edge legal advice and guidance in this complex and evolving area of law.

Gibson Dunn's attorneys are at the forefront of this emerging field.  Our attorneys frequently publish and speak on Electronic Discovery and Information Law issues.  In addition, our attorneys are actively involved with The Sedona Conference®, the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM), the ABA Committee on Pretrial Practice and Discovery, the ABA Section on Science and Technology Law, ARMA International, International Legal Technology Association (ILTA), Women in eDiscovery and other professional organizations focusing on issues of electronic discovery and information law.

The costs and risks associated with electronic discovery have increased exponentially in recent years in nearly all commercial litigation, internal investigations, and governmental investigations.  At the same time, rapid changes in the legal standards applicable to electronic discovery, coupled with the emergence of new information and privacy laws around the world, have dramatically complicated document retention and enhanced the penalties for failing to meet the latest requirements.

The attorneys in Gibson Dunn's Electronic Discovery and Information Law Practice Group not only understand the changing legal standards and guide clients through every phase of electronic discovery, including the identification, preservation, collection, processing, review, analysis and production of electronic data and documents, but they also offer practical advice regarding the design and implementation of cost-effective and efficient litigation readiness programs that can ease the burden of future discovery.  Moreover, Gibson Dunn attorneys around the globe have combined decades of experience in cross-border discovery and advise clients on international data privacy requirements, data transfer and protection.  In working with clients at all stages of the process, Gibson Dunn's attorneys bring to the table their substantive legal experience in a wide range of fields, including class actions and complex litigation, white collar defense and investigations, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, securities litigation and investigations, antitrust, intellectual property protection and media law.
