Jack DiSorbo is a litigation associate in the Houston office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP.
Jack’s practice consists of trials and appeals in complex commercial litigation. He has represented clients on the plaintiff- and defendant-side in federal and state courts across the country in wide-ranging cases—including antitrust, oil and gas, trade secrets, intellectual property, and personal injury. He maintains an active pro bono practice, focusing on religious liberty and other issues.
Jack regularly writes legal articles on civil procedure and legal history, among other topics. In recent years Jack’s work has focused on the newly implemented Texas Business Court. His article “A Primer on the Texas Business Court” was published in the Baylor Law Review and has been featured in multiple CLE’s, including one presented by business court Judge Sofía Adrogué. His recent works have also been selected for publication by the Journal of Supreme Court History, Georgetown Journal of Law & Public Policy, and Heritage Guide to the Constitution (third edition).
Recent Representative Matters:
- Advised Pioneer Natural Resources on Federal Trade Commission’s antitrust investigation of acquisition by ExxonMobil. In re ExxonMobil Corp., No. 241-0004 (FTC). Investigation resulted in consent decree allowing deal to close.
- Filed trade-secret claims on behalf of software company in Florida Complex Business Litigation division. Poka v. Redzone, No. 2024-10981-CA-01 (Miami-Dade County Dist. Ct.). Defeated motion to dismiss. Case presently in discovery.
- Appointed as pro bono counsel to represent prisoner in federal excessive-force lawsuit. Clay v. Obeng, No. 7:22-cv-126 (N.D. Tex.). Served as second chair in jury trial.
- Served on jury trial team in personal injury case Newton v. Johnson & Johnson, No. DC-19-09317 (Dallas County Dist. Ct.). Obtained a favorable settlement during the second week of evidence.
- Filed claims on behalf of Mesquite Energy in Texas Business Court in oil and gas dispute. Mesquite Energy, Inc. v. Sanches Oil & Gas Corp., No. 24-BC11B-0018 (Tex. Bus. Ct. 11th Div.). Case presently in discovery.
- Represented T-Mobile before Fifth Circuit and Federal Circuit in appeal of patent infringement litigation. T-Mobile v. KAIFI, LLC, No. 25-1006 (Fed. Cir.). Appeal pending.
Before joining the firm, Jack was named as a litigation fellow in the Office of Special Litigation in the Texas Attorney General’s Office, where he represented the State of Texas at all levels of the state and federal courts. Jack also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jennifer Walker Elrod of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the Honorable Charles R. Eskridge III of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
Jack received his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Houston Law Center. While there, he served as Senior Articles Editor of the Houston Law Review. Jack also attended the University of Texas at Austin, receiving undergraduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Plan II Honors.
Jack is a member of the Texas bar, and admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Federal Circuits, and the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Western, and Eastern Districts of Texas.
