Based in any US office, the Senior Legal Project Manager will implement significant change by focusing on client service and process innovation. This position will play a key role in the Firm’s strategy to deliver value to our clients and demonstrate operational efficiency. This individual will lead the Firm’s global LPM initiatives while working with partners and other internal stakeholders to ensure the broad adoption of legal project management principles, processes, and technology across the Firm.

The success of this role will be measured by achieving high levels of engagement with key stakeholders, demonstrating measurable benefits from the activities undertaken, and adding value to the organization by contributing to the development and implementation of legal project management best practices, tools, and techniques.

This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide guidance on LPM best practices, tools, and techniques across all practice areas.
  • Collaborate with clients, partners, and other Global Services functions (e.g., Client Value, Finance, Knowledge Management, Billing, and New Matters) to execute strategy, drive efficiency, and achieve program success.
  • Implement large-scale budget monitoring and other LPM initiatives.
  • With support from the Client Value and Finance teams, develop a program to track and analyze actual matter costs against budget and proactively address budget variances.
  • Develop tools and reports for attorneys to improve leverage and ensure work is on budget.
  • Interface with client legal teams, external counsel, and other third-party providers, as appropriate.
  • Design internal processes to maintain compliance with client legal project management and matter management requirements.
  • Contribute to the continuous development of legal project management in the group.
  • Recommend practical tools to improve client and matter profitability.
  • Work closely with the Client Value team to make recommendations with respect to monitoring and designing appropriate pricing arrangements.
  • Develop KPIs and present legal project management success cases for use in internal Firm communications as well as client marketing materials.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritizing in order to meet deadlines and deliverable requirements.

Qualifications

  • Must be a proactive, self-starter who understands the details and can integrate them into a larger strategic context.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of the fundamental elements of legal project management.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with researching, collecting, and analyzing data.
  • Customer service orientation, commitment to meeting deadlines, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong professional, independent thinking skills with strength in problem solving and the ability to offer constructive opinions and creative solutions.
  • A team player who motivates and educates other team members.
  • Must have flexibility to work outside scheduled hours as required.
  • Excellent technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, financial systems, and information systems.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in finance or legal industry.
  • Large law firm or corporate legal department experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

The annual compensation range for this position is $175-230k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
