Benchmark Names Three Partners Top Women Litigators

​Benchmark Litigation named Los Angeles partner Perlette Jura and New York partners Caitlin Halligan and Andrea Neuman to its list of the Top 250 Women in Litigation.  This list is dedicated to honoring the accomplishments of America's leading female trial lawyers and features female litigators from all 50 states, plus the District of Columbia.  The list was published July 31, 2017.

​Washington, D.C. partner Miguel Estrada is one of two new members in Washington, D.C. elected by the American Law Institute.  ALI's mission is to clarify the law through Restatements, Principles and the Model Penal Codes.  The announcement was made on July 26, 2017.

Barbara Becker and Jane Love Receive Women in Business Law Awards

​New York partners Barbara Becker and Jane Love were named the winners in M&A and Life Sciences respectively at Euromoney's sixth annual Americas Women in Business Law Awards.  Additionally six lawyers were shortlisted in practice areas: New York partners Caitlin Halligan (Litigation) and Lori Zyskowski (Corporate Governance), and Palo Alto partner Lisa Fontenot (Media & Entertainment) and San Francisco partner Mary Murphy (Real Estate).  New York partners Anne Champion and Gabrielle Levin were shortlisted as Rising Stars in Litigation.  Awards were determined by senior editorial staff at Euromoney Legal Media Group following an extensive research process.

AP Renewables’ $US225 Million Climate Bond Named Renewable Energy Deal of the Year

The Asset named AP Renewables' $US225 million climate bond as the Renewable Energy Deal of the Year at its Asset Triple A Asia Infrastructure Awards 2017.  The matter also won awards in the following categories: Deals of the Year: Renewable Energy – Most Innovative DealRenewable Energy Deal of the Year – PhilippinesMost Innovative Deal – PhilippinesProject Finance Deal of the Year - PhilippinesGibson Dunn represented AP Renewables as issuer, in what was the first climate bond issued for a single project in an emerging market.  The bond was issued in connection with the refinancing of the Tiwi-Makban geothermal plant.  The Gibson Dunn team was led by Hong Kong partner Patricia Tan Openshaw who was assisted by counsel Cristina Uy-Tioco.  The winners were announced o

National Law Journal Recognizes Gibson Dunn’s D.C. Litigation Department

​In its 2017 D.C. Litigation Department of the Year contest,  the National Law Journal named Gibson Dunn as winner in the Labor and Employment [PDF] category and as a finalist in the General Litigation category.  From a competitive field, NLJ selected eight firms total as stand outs in general litigation and in five practice areas.  The profiles are published in the June 2017 issue.

National Law Journal Names Avi Garbow and William Scherman Energy & Environment Trailblazers

​Washington, D.C. partners Avi Garbow and William Scherman were named Energy & Environment Trailblazers by The National Law Journal.  Garbow, who recently joined Gibson Dunn, is recognized for his work at the Environmental Protection Agency where he was the longest-serving general counsel in EPA history.   Scherman is featured for his work involving the Federal Power Act and the Natural Gas Act.
