On December 6, 2012, leading San Francisco-based non-profit Tipping Point Community—whose innovative model for combating poverty in the Bay Area has been hailed by The New Yorker, the Harvard Business Review, the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Francisco Examiner, and the San Francisco Business Times—presented Gibson Dunn with its Tipping Point Partner Award, at Tipping Point’s Sixth Annual Awards breakfast. Tipping Point honored Gibson Dunn for its extensive pro bono work over the past four years for both Tipping Point itself and the poverty-fighting organizations Tipping Point funds. Since 2008, more than 40 Gibson Dunn attorneys in five different offices have provided nearly $2 million worth of legal services to Tipping Point and its grantees.

The annual awards recognize “the excellence and outstanding achievements of the region’s leading law firms.” Winners were selected based on independent research and voting by a panel of judges, including in-house counsel and private practice lawyers.

For the second year in a row, Hong Kong partner Kelly Austin has been named the Best Lawyer in the Corporate Governance category by Euromoney Legal Media Group at its Asia Women in Business Law Awards. The awards recognize “the achievements of the firms setting the standard in terms of female-friendly work practices, and women leading the field in the legal sector across Asia.” Winners were honored at an awards ceremony on November 22, 2012.

As part of their 2013 Best Law Firms survey, the U.S. News Media Group and Best Lawyers named Gibson Dunn its Law Firm of the Year in two categories: Litigation – Antitrust and Criminal Defense: White-Collar – Governmental Investigations. Only one law firm was recognized in each national legal practice area. The firm received these awards based on a combination of factors, including the “high performance on surveys of clients about [the] firm’s work in the practice area” and “the high regard that lawyers in other firms in the same practice area have for [the] firm.”

The U.S. News Media Group and Best Lawyers awarded Gibson Dunn 110 top-tier practice area rankings in their 2013 Best Law Firms survey. Overall, the firm earned 139 rankings in seven states/metropolitan areas and nationally. The rankings were based on surveys regarding law firm “expertise, responsiveness, understanding of a business and its needs, cost-effectiveness, civility, and whether they would refer another client to the firm.” The national first-tier rankings will be featured in the U.S.
