Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP is pleased to announce that Vivek K. Mohan has joined the firm’s Palo Alto office as a partner. Mohan will serve as Co-Chair of Gibson Dunn’s Artificial Intelligence and Automated Systems Practice Group and continue his privacy, cybersecurity and tech regulatory practice. Mohan joins Gibson Dunn from Mayer Brown LLP, where he was a partner. Previously, he was a senior attorney at Apple Inc., where he was on the company’s global privacy law and policy team and head of information security law.

“Vivek is a terrific addition to the firm,” said Barbara L. Becker, Chair and Managing Partner of Gibson Dunn. “Vivek has technical depth and deep domain experience that will expand our technology-centered regulatory counseling, investigations and enforcement platform in Palo Alto, nationally and globally.”

“We are delighted to have Vivek on our Palo Alto team,” said Ashlie Beringer, partner and Co-Chair of the firm’s Privacy, Cybersecurity and Data Innovation Practice Group. “Having worked with Vivek when I was in-house, I know firsthand how sharp and pragmatic his counsel is, particularly on novel technical issues. His in-house experience and his fluency with technology platforms and business models give him an invaluable perspective into the real world challenges our clients are facing.  Vivek strengthens our Palo Alto market position as a go to firm for technology companies undertaking strategic product initiatives or navigating regulatory investigations at scale.”

“I am thrilled to join Gibson Dunn,” said Mohan. “The regulatory challenges facing today’s technology companies, particularly those here in Silicon Valley, are as diverse as they are complex. I look forward to leveraging my technical experience to help meet the market demand for counsel who understand our clients’ product environment and know how to solve business problems.”
