Based in Houston, the Litigation Paralegal will be responsible for supporting attorneys in all phases of litigation, including case management, court filings, document review and production, drafting and responding to discovery, deposition and trial preparation, cite-checking, and mentoring junior paralegals.

This role reports to the Manager of Paralegal Services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist attorneys in all phases of litigation from case initiation through trial.
  • Assist with calendaring case deadlines.
  • Assist with and draft court filings and preparations in federal courts and Texas state courts.
  • Assist with document collection, organization, review, and productions.
  • Assist with drafting and responding to discovery requests.
  • Proofread court briefs and discovery documents.
  • Assist with deposition, meeting, or interview preparations.
  • Assist with all aspects of trial and arbitration preparations.
  • Ability to travel and attend trials and arbitrations.
  • Cite-check references and/or caselaw in briefs.
  • Prepare various charts and indices.
  • Coordinate with external vendors.
  • Perform various day-to-day case management tasks.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior paralegals and legal assistants as needed.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Flexible and able to multi-task, balancing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Proactive and able to handle efficiently handle multiple projects and client matters simultaneously.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior analytical and reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with members across multiple offices.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred.
  • Proficient with Texas and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe.
  • Experience with eDiscovery Databases (Relativity, LiveNote, etc.).

Compensation & Benefits:

The annual compensation range for this position is $105-120k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
