Based in any U.S. office, the Procurement Attorney will be responsible for playing a vital role in supporting the firm’s procurement function. This position requires analyzing, drafting, and negotiating a wide array of agreements with key vendors and third parties. You will also provide ad-hoc legal counsel to the procurement team, assisting in the interpretation and analysis of existing agreements and identifying legal and compliance issues and business risks.
This role reports to the Deputy General Counsel and will work closely with other members of the General Counsel’s Office, the procurement team, and other internal stakeholders throughout the Firm.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing counsel to firm and working closely with procurement function on all aspects of contract drafting, negotiation, implementation, and compliance with key vendors and third parties.
- Analysing, drafting, and negotiating a broad range of complex commercial agreements, including master service agreements, IT supplier and software licensing agreements, data privacy agreements, speaker engagements, event agreements, and more with third parties.
- Advising case teams on matter- or client-specific vendor retentions, such as expert and local counsel engagements, Kovel letters, and agreements with eDiscovery vendors.
- Collaborating and liaising with other departments and internal stakeholders, including operations, procurement, information security, and subject matter experts to support procurement process.
- Identifying and escalating legal and compliance issues and business risks presented by new and existing agreements.
- Drafting and updating firm templates for third-party contracts, draft playbooks, and provide training to ensure consistent contracting standards and processes are maintained.
- Staying up to date on legal developments relevant to the firm and its procurement function and incorporate relevant laws and emerging trends into firm agreements and templates.
- Reviewing and managing procurement processes and collaborate with other departments to standardize contracting policies and practices.
Qualifications
- Strong negotiating and drafting skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with attorneys and staff at all levels.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines.
- Ability to analyze and interpret information from a variety of sources, apply critical and creative thinking, and pay strong attention to detail, to draw valid conclusions of develop solutions to complex problems.
- Methodological approach to work with a strong focus on accuracy, attention to detail, consistency, and good decision-making skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and highly confidential information with utmost care.
Experience
- Juris Doctor (JD) required.
- Minimum of three years of experience as an attorney in procurement or contract law.
- Proven track record in negotiating and drafting complex agreements.
- Experience providing legal counsel in a corporate setting.
- Familiarity with cloud-based providers, artificial intelligence, and other technology solutions.

Compensation & Benefits:
The annual compensation range for this position is $90-150k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
