Based in Los Angeles, the Research Assistant will be responsible for administrative services and assisting our Research team with basic requests as needed. This position will proactively monitor new and departing staff to ensure licenses and user access is managed accordingly while also processing and managing invoices, cost recovery process, and the upkeep of the RIM intranet.
RIM Department provides research assistance to the Firm’s partners and associates and others within the Firm. The RIM also oversees all research related subscriptions and online research resources; therefore, the candidate must be very flexible and highly committed to quality, customer service, teamwork and supporting Firm and department goals in a fast-paced environment.
This role reports to the Sr. Research Manager.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing research and create reports for our new client intake process.
- Assisting the Research team with basic research requests for online and print resources including court docket and case pulls.
- Helping to maintain data on the firm’s intranet for the Research & Information Management department.
- Setting up new user accounts for attorneys and maintaining and managing those accounts.
- Managing online passwords and auto-forwarding rules for online services.
- Managing bulk book orders and their distribution to firm personnel.
- Maintaining electronic routing lists for attorneys and staff.
- Assisting in processing online invoices and performing cost recovery analysis.
- Inputting client-billable information for online bills into accounting system.
- Performing other tasks and duties as needed to support the RIM Department.
Qualifications
- Must have strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must be self-motivated and be willing to take the initiative to complete tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work harmoniously with others.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, along with strong customer service skills.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university.
- Two to three years of paralegal or law library experience.
- Paralegal certificate, MLS or MLIS preferred.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Prior experience with legal research preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:
The annual compensation range for this position is $60-70k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
