Joshua Bauernfreund is of counsel in the London office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and is a member of the Business Restructuring and Reorganization Practice Group.
Josh advises companies, boards, lenders, investors and insolvency practitioners across the full spectrum of restructuring and insolvency matters, including complex corporate restructurings, contentious and non-contentious insolvency matters and distressed acquisitions.
Josh’s experience includes advising: *
- The Cineworld Group, one of the largest cinema chains in the world, in connection with the Chapter 11 cases for its UK, US and Jersey businesses
- Next on the acquisition of Joules's business out of administration
- Atlas Mara, the sub-Saharan African financial services group, on its strategic options and debt restructuring
- ASOS on the acquisition out of administration of the Topshop, Topman, Miss Selfridge and HIIT brands
- Hema, the Dutch retailer, on its multi-jurisdictional financial restructuring implemented by means of an English scheme of arrangement and a Dutch security enforcement sale
- TVS Motor Company, the global manufacturer of two and three wheeled vehicles, in connection with its acquisition out of administration of the iconic British motorcycle brand, Norton
- Interserve plc, one of the world’s leading support services and construction groups, on the development and implementation of its deleveraging plan
- The Board of Thomas Cook Group plc in connection with Thomas Cook's proposed recapitalisation plan, the liquidation of Thomas Cook Group plc and the subsequent parliamentary inquiry
- Carillion in relation to its restructuring efforts, as well as the Official Receiver and Special Managers (PwC) in connection with aspects of Carillion's liquidation process
- The administrators of the Wonga Group, previously the UK’s largest payday lender, in relation to the conduct of Wonga's administration process
