Zach Edelman

Associate Attorney

Zach Edelman is an associate in the New York office of Gibson Dunn, where he currently practices in the firm’s Litigation Department. Zach’s practice focuses on representing corporate clients in high-stakes, bet-the-company litigation at trial, with a focus on complex contract and corporate governance disputes. He has represented clients in a range of industries, including the financial sector, healthcare, and government contracting.

Prior to joining the firm, Zach served as a law clerk for the Honorable Reena Raggi of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Honorable Carol B. Amon of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

Zach received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 2020, where he served as an Executive Editor of the Harvard Law Review and an Executive Submissions Editor and Executive Membership Chair of the Harvard Business Law Review. He earned his undergraduate degree in History, with Distinction, from Yale University.

Zach is admitted to practice law in the State of New York.

Significant Representations:

  • Represented publicly traded financial services firm in litigation against former members of the firm related to violations of both their contractual (including their restrictive covenants) and fiduciary duties, including during a seven-week bench trial; drafted multiple successful appellate briefs.
  • Represented private equity firm in expedited Delaware Chancery Court action seeking enforcement of portfolio company’s LLC agreement; won a significant trial verdict in favor of clients after a one-day bench trial.
  • Represented health tech company and its CEO in the favorable resolution of civil litigation and arbitration proceedings involving breach of contract and fraud claims.
  • Secured a favorable settlement for mental health start-up in a founder’s dispute litigation, involving claims of wrongful termination, retaliation, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, and defamation.
  • Represented federal government contractor in contract dispute regarding payment of contingent promissory note issued to sellers of an acquired business.
  • Represented founders and early employees of leading dating app in multi-billion dollar valuation dispute.
