Jonathan D. Fortney

Partner

Jonathan D. Fortney is a partner in the New York office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.  He is a member of Gibson Dunn’s Securities Litigation and Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Groups.  Mr. Fortney has experience in a wide range of complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on securities litigation, corporate control contests, and shareholder actions alleging breaches of fiduciary duties.

Mr. Fortney has represented, among other clients, Bank of New York Mellon, Citigroup, Edison Mission Energy, Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield/Well Point, Intel, JPMorgan, RBC, and Wal-Mart.

Mr. Fortney received his Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Law and studied transnational corporate law at Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne.  He also served as an Arthur Littleton and H. Clayton Louderback Legal Writing Instructor and as a member of the Moot Court Board.  Additionally, Mr. Fortney served as a research assistant on International Arbitration and Investment Law issues for Professor William W. Burke-White.   He received his Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude from Bob Jones University, where he was an Avro Manhattan Scholar.

Mr. Fortney is admitted to practice in the State of New York and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
