Lara Kakish is an associate in the Dallas office of Gibson Dunn. Lara a trial lawyer with a strong commercial litigation practice, representing clients in complex, high-profile business disputes through all phrases of litigation. Lara represents clients in state and federal court proceedings, and her practice spans several industries, including energy, technology, telecommunications, healthcare, retail, banking, and insurance.
Prior to joining Gibson Dunn, Lara was an associate at a Chambers-ranked leading global law firm in Dallas and worked for a human rights nonprofit organization on cases related to violence against women and political asylum.

- Secured $667 million jury verdict for Energy Transfer LP and Dakota Access LLC against Greenpeace USA and Greenpeace International for the defendants’ interference with and defamation related to the Dakota Access Pipeline.
- Achieved a complete defense verdict on behalf of an energy company in a jury trial seeking millions of dollars on numerous tort claims.
- Obtained a directed verdict on behalf of a private telecommunications company in a bench trial concerning a statutory issue of first impression.

Lara received her Juris Doctor, with honors, from Southern Methodist University, where she served as the Associate Managing Editor for the SMU Law Review, the Vice President of the Student Bar Association, and as a Teaching Assistant for the law school’s legal research and writing program. She earned her B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin.
Lara is a member of the State Bar of Texas. She is also admitted to practice before the Northern District of Texas.
