Stefan Koller

Associate Attorney

Stefan Koller is an associate in the Houston office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and a member of the firm's Pro Bono Committee. He currently practices in the firm’s Real Estate, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Capital Markets practice groups. Stefan maintains an active pro bono practice, representing clients in matters of real estate, commercial restructuring, intellectual property, and family law.

Stefan’s experience includes:

  • Representation of the underwriters led by TD Securities (USA) LLC, MUFG Securities Americas Inc. and Wells Fargo Securities, LLC in a public offering by Western Midstream Operating, LP of $750 million aggregate principal amount of Senior Notes.
  • Representation of Berkshire Residential Investments as lender in a commercial real estate loan related to a portfolio of luxury apartments, valued at approximately $330 million
  • Representation of TreeHouse Foods, Inc. (NYSE: THS) in its carve-out divestiture of cross-border assets valued at approx. $ 0.95 billion and subsequent stock purchase agreement with subsidiaries of InvestIndustrial Advisors Ltd.
  • Representation of Peloton International, Inc. (NASDAQ: PTON) in its offering of ca. 27.2 million shares of common stock for gross proceeds of approximately $1.2 billion
  • Representation of Global Oryx Company Limited, a subsidiary of the Abdul Latif Jameel Companies and initial sponsor of Rivian, in Rivian's initial public offering that valued the company at approximately $70 billion
  • Representation of Contango Oil & Gas Company in its all-stock merger with Independence Energy, LLC, valued at approximately $5.7 billion
  • Representation of Reliance Marcellus, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited, in its approximately $250 million divestiture of approximately 450,000 gross acres of producing leasehold in the Marcellus Shale to Northern Oil and Gas, Inc. (NYSE MKT: NOG)
  • Representation of Parkland Corporation (OTCMKTS: PKIUF) in its senior notes offering valued at approximately $800 million
  • Representation of Callon Petroleum Company in its acquisition of leasehold interests and related oil, gas and infrastructure assets of Blackstone Group affiliate Primexx Energy Partners, valued at approximately $802 million
  • Representation of Apollo Global Management as lender in a commercial real estate loan related to a luxury hotel complex, valued at approximately $100 million
  • Representation of Starwood Property Trust as lender in a commercial real estate loan related to an office complex, valued at approximately $100 million
  • Representation of KKR Real Estate Finance Trust as lender in a commercial real estate loan related to a multi-family residential project, valued at approximately $122 million
  • Representation of EnerVest, Ltd., as selling shareholder in a section 144 trade of approximately 7.5 million shares of Magnolia Oil & Gas Corporation underwritten by Citigroup Global Markets Inc.

Stefan received his J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law in 2020, where he served as an editor of the Texas Journal of Oil, Gas, and Energy Law. During law school, he interned for the Colorado Supreme Court, the Western District of Texas Federal District Court, and completed a Capital Markets externship at a law office in Berlin, Germany, while enrolled at Humboldt University’s Excellence Cluster graduate program in European law.

Prior to law school, Stefan obtained a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Delft, Netherlands, and B.A. and B.Phil. degrees from the University of Oxford. He graduated with a Double First from Oxford, earning the Gibbs Prize for the highest GPA in a double honors program across all 39 Oxford colleges.
