Richard B. Sen

Of Counsel

Richard Sen is of counsel in the London office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.  He is a member of the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group.

Richard’s practice covers all aspects of commercial real estate, with a particular focus on corporate domestic and cross-border portfolio acquisitions and disposals, joint venture and equity investments, build-to-suit leasing and sale and leaseback transactions across asset types.  Richard has had an emphasis on investments in ground-up development projects since 2013, including forward funding and forward purchase acquisitions.  He regularly acts on high value, complex, structured real estate deals.  He represents U.S. and European financial investors (primarily opportunity and private equity funds) together with public companies, REITs, sovereign wealth funds and various other clients. 

Prior to joining Gibson Dunn, Richard practiced at a leading City of London law firm.

  • KKR on its equity arrangements with living specialist partner Inhabeo.
  • KKR on its equity arrangements with logistics and industrial partner Mirastar.
  • KKR on its equity arrangements with logistics and industrial partner Palm Capital.
  • PIF on the proposed development, leasing and joint venture arrangements between its wholly owned subsidiary, the Renewable Energy Localization Company (RELC), Vision Industries Company and JinkoSolar Middle East DMCC to manufacture solar cells and modules in the KSA.
  • PIF on the proposed development, leasing, and joint venture arrangements between RELC, Vision Industries Company and Lumetech S.A. PTE. Ltd to manufacture solar ingots and wafers in the KSA.
  • PIF on the development, leasing and joint venture arrangements with Hyundai Motors Company to establish a world class automotive manufacturing facility in King Abdullah Economic City.
  • PIF’s wholly owned subsidiary, TASARU Mobility Investment, on the development and leasing arrangements to establish the King Salman Automotive Cluster in King Abdullah Economic City.
  • Welltower Inc. on its acquisition from Bridgepoint Advisors of Care UK (a senior residential and nursing business made of over 140 care homes across the UK) and care service arrangements with management.
  • Brookfield Asset Management Ltd on the development, acquisition and joint venture arrangements in relation to a portfolio of 19 student housing facilities across numerous cities in Spain and Portugal.
  • Oaktree Capital Management (UK), LLP on a number of real estate private equity transactions and joint ventures for properties in the UK and across Europe.
  • Centerbridge Partners, L.P. on establishing a European industrial outdoor storage joint venture with M7.
  • Centerbridge Partners, L.P. on the acquisition of a portfolio of logistics assets in Germany, UK, Switzerland, Poland and Hungary.
  • Ares Management Corporation on its acquisition from M&G of a designer outlet in Wales.
  • Apollo Global Management, Inc. on the take private of Atlantic Leaf, a South African and Mauritian dual listed company, owning an extensive portfolio of UK industrial real estate assets.
