Julie Sweeney is an associate in the Washington, D.C. office, where she practices in the firm’s Privacy, Cybersecurity & Data Innovation practice group.
She has experience advising companies on privacy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence issues, including relating to legal and regulatory compliance with the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California Age Appropriate Design Code Act, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and other federal, state, and international laws and regulations. She also has experience drafting internal and external privacy and security policies, counseling on data breach response management and notification concerns, drafting and negotiating DPAs and other commercial arrangements, and conducting tabletop exercises. Her clients span a broad range of industries, including the automotive, technology, media, and financial sectors.
Julie received her Juris Doctor with Honors from the George Washington University in 2019. While in law school, she received the Jacob Burns Award, presented to the winning team of Van Vleck Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition, and was a research assistant to Professor Daniel Solove. Julie graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from the Ohio State University.
She is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia.
