Georg Weidenbach is a partner in the Frankfurt office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. He is a member of the firm’s Antitrust and Competition and the Litigation Groups.

Georg focuses his practice on European and German antitrust law. He regularly advises clients on cartel investigations and related cartel damage claims, merger control, compliance programs and audits, antitrust related distribution and abuse of dominance matters.

Georg is regularly recommended by the leading legal publications. Georg regularly publishes on antitrust matters. Besides many articles, he recently co-edited a handbook on antitrust damage claims (Kartellrechtliche Schadensersatzklagen, 2018/2021, Frankfurt am Main) and authored chapters about antitrust compliance (Handbuch Compliance-Management, 3rd edition 2020, Berlin) and antitrust limits for commercial contracts (Münchener Vertragshandbuch, Vol. 2, Wirtschaftsrecht I, 8th edition 2020, Munich). He has also been teaching antitrust law at German universities, including the EBS Law School and the University of Münster.

Prior to joining Gibson Dunn, Georg was deputy office managing partner of the German offices of a renowned U.S. law firm.

Georg studied law at the University of Konstanz, Germany, from where he also obtained his doctor’s degree in 2001. In 2000, he was awarded the Magister Juris degree from the University of Oxford. He has been admitted as a German lawyer (Rechtsanwalt) since 2003.

Georg is a founding member of the association of antitrust lawyers in the wider Frankfurt region (Kartellrechtsforum Frankfurt am Main).

In addition to his native German, he is fluent in English.
