Our industry experience encompasses:
- renewable energy including onshore and offshore wind, utility-scale, commercial, industrial, and distributed solar, hydroelectric, geothermal, biomass, biogas and distributed power generation (including microgrids) as well as other renewable energy applications, including data centers and electric vehicles
- conventional power generation (including gas, coal and oil), transmission and distribution
- energy storage (including battery, pumped hydro and other storage technologies) as well as other power-related technologies
We regularly advise our clients in connection with a wide variety of complex and innovative matters including project and corporate M&A, project development (including engineering, procurement and construction, power marketing and trading, and renewable energy credit transfers), project financing, capital markets transactions, tax equity investments, joint ventures and consortia, concessions and other power-related transactions, as well as related ESG, energy transition and technology matters.

Recent representations include:
- Berkshire Hathaway Energy and its subsidiaries: Advised Berkshire Hathaway Energy and its subsidiaries in dozens of renewable energy projects and transactions aggregating more than $20 billion in deal value, including corporate, platform and project acquisitions; corporate, acquisition and project financings; tax equity financings; more than a dozen M&A transactions, including some of the largest utility M&A deals in the U.S.; joint ventures and other development arrangements; and other innovative project and energy transition transactions.
- Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp.: Advised Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. in the up to $2.5 billion sale to LS Power of its renewable energy business, including a portfolio of wind, solar, energy storage and renewable natural gas operating assets and projects in development in the U.S. and Canada.
- AIP Management P/S: Advised AIP Management P/S in multiple renewable energy project investments, including debt and equity investments in the 160 MWac Little Bear solar project located in California; the 300 MWac Prospero solar project located in Texas; and the Victory Pass and Arica 463 MWac solar and 186 MW storage projects located in California.
- energyRe: Advised energyRe in its investments in several multibillion-dollar renewable development projects, including offshore wind (New York Bight), 2 GW of onshore wind and transmission (Clean Path New York) projects; and in its $1.2 billion capital raise (including equity commitments from Glentra Capital and Elia Group) to support the expansion of its renewable energy portfolio.
- SB Energy: Advised SB Energy in its joint venture with Intersect Power and the acquisition, construction and financing of more than 1.7 GW of utility-scale solar power projects located in California and Texas.
- Hydro REIN: Advised Hydro REIN in its acquisition from IOWN Renewable Energy of an 80% stake in a portfolio of 25 wind power projects in Sweden and Norway.
- European Investment Bank: Advised European Investment Bank in the €350 million landmark limited-recourse financing of the 448 MW Calvados offshore wind farm located off the coast of Normandy, France and co-developed by EDF Renouvelables, Enbridge and wpd.
- KKR: Advised KKR in its $428.7 million agreement with Spanish renewable group IGNIS to launch IGNIS P2X, a new Power-to-X platform to develop green hydrogen and ammonia projects for industrial applications in hard-to-abate sectors.
- Calumet: Advised Calumet in the $445 million establishment of its renewable diesel business through the transfer of its high-metallurgy hydrocracker and related assets to Montana Renewables, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Calumet.
- Fluor Corporation: Advised Fluor Corporation in the $1.9 billion merger of its subsidiary NuScale Power with Spring Valley Acquisition Corp. to create the first publicly traded provider of a small modular nuclear reactor technology.
- Berkshire Hathaway Energy: Advised Berkshire Hathaway Energy in the $3.3 billion acquisition from Dominion Energy of an additional 50% L.P. interest in the Cove Point LNG business, following the earlier acquisition of a 25% L.P. interest and 100% G.P. interest.
- Clearway Energy: Advised Clearway Energy it the $1.9 billion sale to KKR of its thermal infrastructure assets that provide steam, hot and chilled water, and electricity across the U.S.
