Gibson Dunn prevails in D.C. Superior Court in Obtaining a Civil Protection Order for a Domestic Violence Victim and her Family

For approximately a year, Gibson Dunn has been working with the DC Volunteer Lawyers Project in helping domestic violence victims obtain civil protection orders against their abusers.

On September 6, 2018, Gibson Dunn’s client was granted a civil protection order for herself and her children and grandchildren. This was achieved with the assistance of attorneys Michael Scanlon, Lissa Percopo, Coreen Mao, and Jessica Altman. The client had been suffering from violence at the hands of her partner for months. After suffering two violent assaults and fearing for the safety of her family she fled her home and sought assistance in the form of a protection order. With less than a week to prepare for the hearing, Gibson Dunn successfully obtained a protection order for the client. She now hopes to live free from violence and continue caring for her family.
